Beauty

I have always found flowers to be beautiful. I thought that they were the most pristine and pure form of beauty. What I admired most about flowers is that they just bloomed. They were not concerned with the flowers around them. They grew and developed on their own, and that is what I found so beautiful about them. Because of this, I thought that flowers were superior to humans. When I was growing up, I often tried to change my appearance or personality to fit in with what everyone else was doing. I was convinced that I could never be as beautiful as a flower because I was too concerned with everyone else’s opinion of me. That was until I looked closely at the flower pictured above. The flower consists of many layers. These layers are intricate and many of them are hidden away. As I looked towards the center of the flower, the shadows grew darker and the flower itself became more of a mystery. The edges of the flower were wilting. This flower was not as perfect as I originally thought it was. I could not help but think that this flower was not all that different from people. Everyone has layers. Some are very visible, while others are guarded by shadows. Everyone has their own imperfections that they deal with. However, just like the flower, they are still beautiful. By changing my perspective on the flower, I was able to acknowledge its impurities. I was able to see that even though something is not perfect, it does not mean that it is not beautiful and worth appreciating.
